We look for emerging businesses that bring breakthrough technological innovations to these opportunities. Through our unique partnership with US Renewables Group, Rustic Canyon has a broad presence in emerging companies related to clean technology, and can bridge the traditional gap between venture capital and project finance. US Renewables Group invests primarily in Renewable Power Projects (Biomass, Geothermal, Landfill Methane, and select Solar projects), as well as Clean Fuels Projects (Ethanol and Biodiesel). Their primary focus is on the acquisition of operating assets, and on a selective basis, investment in development projects or expansion opportunities at existing renewable energy facilities.

Serious Materials develops and manufactures advanced eco-friendly materials for sustainable building construction. Our EcoRock® wallboard products (2008) are green replacements for standard drywall that could reduce total industrial emissions in the U.S. by 1%, and represent a $20 billion market opportunity worldwide. EcoRock uses 90% less energy in its production than gypsum drywall, and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25 billion pounds per year. Our ThermaProof super-insulating windows (2008) reduce U.S. energy use and carbon emissions by 5%, and likewise represent a $50 billion opportunity worldwide.
The company has grown rapidly, starting with our 25 Quiet®-brand soundproofing products, including the market-leading QuietRock® soundproof drywall. These provide easy, reliable, cost-effective noise reduction for both commercial and residential construction. A million QuietRock panels have been installed in over 30,000 projects to date. We currently operate two manufacturing plants in California and are planning a third in the Northeast. The company has filed over 24 patents.
