Rustic Canyon Partners invests in venture capital stage companies positioned for strong growth. We typically invest in companies that capitalize on opportunities created by technology change, market evolution, regulatory shifts, or other factors. To date, we have invested in a broad array of technology-driven companies in sectors such as digital media, clean technology, technology-enabled process out-sourcing, business and information services, and wireless and wireline broadband.
Our primary investment is capital, but, with a high ratio of partners to capital under management, the firm makes a significant investment of partner time and expertise in the disciplined sourcing, evaluation, and due diligence work we perform prior to making a decision to invest. Once an investment is made, we proactively support our companies and help them flourish.
The foundation of Rustic Canyon’s investment and management process is the following:
• Two partners with complementary skills follow each investment opportunity.
• All partners review and approve each investment opportunity.
• We are active participants in building our portfolio companies, closely aligned with management, and active in the boardroom.
• We leverage our broad and deep networks to accelerate the growth of our portfolio companies.
Due to our high level of partner commitment, we focus on investment opportunities on the West Coast to provide the most value to our portfolio companies. It also has led us to form a partnership that includes professionals with varied, complementary backgrounds and to adopt the practice of having two partners work with each of our new investments. We work collaboratively, making all the decisions as a team and are dedicated to two guiding principles: building successful companies and providing superior returns to the investors who have entrusted us with their capital.
